How we produce the numbers on this site

1 · Cost figures

• Ranges, not prices. We publish a range because the factors that move a price most — access, hidden damage, structural repairs, local labor rates — cannot be known without an on-site look.
• Sourced from published industry data. Ranges come from published national and regional cost data, scaled by project size and material. The scaling method is shown on the page it appears on.
• Estimates are labeled as estimates. Our calculator states plainly that it produces an estimate, not a quote, and lists what it assumes.
• We do not invent local prices. We will not publish "HVAC replacement in your city costs $X" unless we can source that figure for that city. Where we only have state-level data, we say state-level things.

2 · Local and regional claims

• Climate and geography are stated as facts, with sources. Where we describe what a climate does to a heating or cooling system, that is a physical claim we can attribute.
• Cost language stays directional. "Labor tends to run higher in this region" is a claim we can stand behind. A specific local dollar figure we cannot source is one we do not publish.
• We do not assert permit fees, code requirements or timelines for a specific municipality unless sourced, because those change and vary by jurisdiction.

3 · Testimonials and reviews

• Illustrative content is labeled on the item itself — not in a footnote, not in the terms. If a testimonial is a written example rather than a real customer, the card says so.
• We do not publish fabricated reviews. Presenting invented testimonials as genuine consumer reviews is prohibited by the FTC's Rule on Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (16 CFR Part 465), and we treat that as a hard line.
• Ratings are attributable or absent. A rating shown without a source it can be checked against is a rating we should not be showing.
• No real customer's name appears without written permission on file.

4 · Imagery

• Photography on this site is illustrative and does not depict specific projects, specific customers, or specific contractors.
• We do not present before/after pairs as real project results unless they are, with permission.
• Images showing worn or failing components are used to explain what a problem looks like — they are not our customers' homes.

5 · What we will not do

• Imply affiliation with a government agency, utility, or public program. We are a private company and no part of this service is a government benefit, rebate or grant.
• Use countdown timers, fake scarcity, invented viewer counts, or expiring offers.
• Claim a savings figure or percentage we cannot substantiate.
• Describe ourselves as a contractor, or imply we perform or warrant the work.
• Present financing as approved, guaranteed, or offered by us. We are not a lender.

6 · Corrections

If a figure, claim or attribution on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Email [email protected] with the page and what is incorrect. Material corrections to a cost guide update its review date.
